It seems the master bedroom is always the last room in the house to receive attention. And, yet, when we give it the attention it deserves, it becomes our retreat, our sanctuary, our place of rest.
After finishing several projects in their home, this family called for just this reason… “I am ready for MY space to look as good as the rest of the house!”
So, we started with a blank slate and began to build on a soothing, monochromatic color palette full of subtle pattern, reflective surfaces, and soft upholstery. But, who wants pretty without function?
The perfect reading nook with a view of the TV has all of the essentials…. lighting, a cozy ottoman, storage, and a backdrop of abstract art reminiscent of a beach’s shoreline. Opposite the reading nook, we added drawer storage and shelving for books and accessories.
We layered the bed, added some personal touches so the couple feels at home, and, voila! A fabulous retreat that competes with all the other rooms in the house – a sanctuary to be enjoyed.
